SECTION 122 -
LOCAL GOVERNMENT ACT 1972
APPROPRIATION OF LAND FROM OPEN
SPACE TO HIGHWAY PURPOSES
ALL THE LAND BETWEEN
PRIORY CRESCENT HIGHWAY
(NORTH OF THE RAILWAY BRIDGE)
AND THE RAILWAY BOUNDARY
Southend-on-Sea Borough Council is proposing to improve the highway at
Priory Crescent, Southend-on-Sea, involving the creation of a dual
carriageway and new bridge over the railway line. This would necessitate the
open space land between the highway boundary of Priory Crescent (north of
the railway bridge) and the boundary of the railway land ("the Land") being
appropriated to highway purposes pursuant to S.122 of the Local Government
Act 1972.
The Land is owned by Southend-on-Sea Borough Council and is currently held
as public open space under the Open Spaces Act 1906.
Therefore, the Council hereby gives notice of its intention to appropriate
all of the Land from open space to highway purposes in accordance with
Section 122(2A) of the Local Government Act 1972.
A plan showing the Land to be appropriated can be viewed at the Technical and
Environmental Services Department reception on the 10th floor of the Civic
Centre at the address below.
Any objections to the proposed appropriation or on the question of whether
the Land is required for present purposes, should be sent to the Chief
Executive and Town Clerk at the address below by 5th September 2002.
J.K.M. Krawiec, Chief Executive and Town Clerk,
Southend-on-Sea Borough Council, Civic Centre,
